Tai sabaki - Body rotation

Kodokan entrance

For the presentation of the step sequences applies the following situation:

TORI puts his right foot diagonally forward, in front of the right foot of UKE. This movement initiates a rotation of the body by 180 °. TORI completed the rotation by setting his left standing leg to the right, while maintaining the rotation. Here, too, UKE is at the end of the motion sequence with close contact directly in front of UKE. The refraction of equilibrium of UKE is not interrupted during the entire movement.

Closely associated with the turn in (input) techniques are the movement patterns of the body during position changes, or quite simply, the way of walking. Distinction is made here by Tsugi ashi and Ayumi ashi.
