For the presentation of the step sequences applies the following situation:
TORI does with his left foot a step diagonally forward, so the legs of TORI are crossed. TORI's right leg initiate a rotation of the hip with a whole rotation of the body by 180 °. In the final phase of the rotation, TORI is in front of UKE with intimate contact between his back and UKE's torso. Whilst rotating TORI continuously pulls on the right arm of UKE to disturb its balance.
Closely associated with the turn in (input) techniques are the movement patterns of the body during position changes, or quite simply, the way of walking. Distinction is made here by Tsugi ashi and Ayumi ashi.
