Kagami migaki - mirror cleaning

Kagami Migaki literally means "mirror cleaning" and includes an old samurai tradition in the ritual of spiritual renewal. The term comes first, by the movements of the judoka, the movement is like polishing a mirror with both hands. Emblematic of the mirror is oneself.

The circular movements of the hands polish and clean an imaginary mirror, which symbolizes our spirit. This is to be purged of all "errors" that inhibit our spiritual and physical development. This exercise can be done as a completion of the training and is used for calming, obtaining a steady breathing rhythm as well as concentrate.

Execution:

TORI raises the forearms at shoulder height and rotate the strong hands spread out, so that your palms are on the outside and the thumbs point downwards. TORI polished now the imaginary mirror with small circular movements of the hand, the finger tips touch here briefly when the hands come in the middle of the body together. These circular movements are made from the top to the bottom and then from the bottom to the top. The duration of exercise may vary, it depends on the age and the concentration of the judoka.
